2022 Morse Diversity Fellowship

Marketing & Business Development Coordinator

Morse is looking for a creative, organized, high-energy individual to join our team and provide a range of marketing, communications and business development support. A self-starter, the successful candidate looks for opportunities to expand and improve upon the tasks below and enjoys a workday that’s always different. As part of our small, award-winning team, this role provides exposure to many facets of legal marketing. Bring your motivation and skills and the job will grow as you do.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Business Development, the Coordinator’s principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Firm’s social media accounts, creating and editing content and providing monthly analytics reports, including strategic feedback to improve our efforts.
  • Coordinating Firm events and seminars (virtual and in person), managing logistics from start to finish.
  • Reviewing and revising external Firm communications, including articles and newsletters. An eye for grammar is essential!
  • Updating the Firm website via WordPress, ensuring consistency and upholding brand standards.
  • Maintaining marketing materials including content collection, formatting, and distribution.
  • Becoming fluent in our CRM (contact database), including tracking marketing and business development activities, reviewing deal data, maintaining Firm mailing lists and training new hires.
  • Assisting with business development and lead generation initiatives through market research via database searches and competitive intelligence tools.

Requirements:

  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications or business development in the legal or other professional services industry
  • Strong computer skills including Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite (specifically InDesign), MS Office, CRM
  • Very comfortable with social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Excellent writer with solid proofreading and editing proficiency
  • Able to take direction from multiple sources and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and solid follow-up skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision in a collaborative environment and be able to develop professional relationships with department members, attorneys, and Firm staff

Patent Paralegal

Morse is currently seeking a full-time Patent Paralegal to join the Intellectual Property, Patent Practice in the Firm’s Waltham office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and filing of all prosecution documents related to US and PCT applications, corresponding with foreign associates regarding all aspects of foreign prosecution, and timely reporting of official correspondence
  • Preparing formality documents including but not limited to Declarations, Assignments, and Powers of Attorney
  • Preparing and filing Information Disclosure Statements and satisfying Duty of Disclosure requirements in various countries
  • Processing incoming correspondence from various Patent Offices and reporting the same

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required
  • 3+ years of US and foreign patent prosecution paralegal experience required
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in CPI and IPDAS preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are a must
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently and to meet deadlines
  • Initiative, flexibility, resiliency, and a willingness to adapt to change

Morse is currently seeking a full-time Patent Paralegal (evening) to join the Intellectual Property, Patent Practice in the Firm’s Waltham office.

Regular and predictable schedule consistent with a hybrid work environment and an evening position is an essential function of the job. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • This position’s hours will be 3:30 pm to 11 pm

  • 8+ years of patent prosecution experience (particularly patent application drafting experience) in biotechnology-related fields

Successful candidates will have:

  • 7 – 10 years of experience representing clients in a range of corporate, securities and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, financings (debt and equity) and general corporate matters

2022 Morse Diversity Fellowship

Each year, Morse Fellows are selected from a competitive pool of applicants and are invited to join the firm for 8-10 weeks during the summer between their 1L and 2L academic years.
