2022 Morse Diversity Fellowship

Billing Specialist

Morse is currently seeking a Billing Specialist to join the Firm’s accounting department. Successful candidates will be organized and attentive and will support the billing efforts of the Firm. Our fast-paced, friendly environment requires a committed team player with good judgment, initiative, and versatility. Morse offers competitive compensation and a generous benefits package. This position will be non-exempt, and will report to the Director of Business Operations.

Essential responsibilities of the Billing Specialist include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Manage all tasks necessary for timely and accurate client invoice processing
  • Upload pre-bills for review by attorneys
  • Process pre-bill edits including narrative changes, time and cost write downs, write offs, and transfers
  • Research and respond to billing inquiries from attorneys, clients, and outside collections vendor
  • Apply client trust money when applicable
  • Process invoices electronically through eBilling tools
  • Assist with set up and maintenance of eBilling tools
  • Coordinate new business intake workflow, including database searches for conflicts of interest
  • Maintain client/matter information in the finance system including addresses, rates, invoice templates, attorney origination and responsibility allocation, and other information as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working with time and billing software preferred
  • Strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, efficient multi-tasking capabilities, an eye for detail and accuracy, the ability to adapt to changing technologies, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential
  • Exceptional customer service and people skills

Corporate Paralegal

Senior Information Technology Specialist

Morse is currently seeking a Senior IT Specialist to join the Firm’s Waltham office. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong technical ability in business enterprise environments, including cloud-based platforms, together with a proven track record of managing outside vendors and support departments to solve problems and implement firm-wide IT initiatives. Essential to this role is a collegial and productive working relationship with our outside managed service provider (“MSP”) to provide a high level of personal support and service to the Firm’s end users. Our fast-paced, friendly environment requires a committed team player with good judgment, maturity, initiative, and versatility. We offer competitive compensation and a generous benefits package. This position will report to the Executive Director and will be required to be on-site for a majority of the work week.

Essential responsibilities of the Senior IT Specialist include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Act as the IT liaison between the Firm’s outside managed service provider (“MSP”) and other outside vendors and its end users to provide high-quality, customer-driven technical support in both home and office environments across a broad array of technology, including VPN’s, Office 365, remote desktop servers and other applications and systems used by the Firm
  • Monitor the MSP’s ticketing system to identify systemic issues and coordinate troubleshooting and resolution of such issues as needed
  • Open tickets as needed and otherwise coordinate with the MSP and support departments of the Firm’s various systems and applications (i.e., NetDocs, IPDAS, Adobe, etc.)
  • Serve as the primary internal support to our patent prosecution team on the IPDAS software product, and related environment and connectivity issues
  • Oversee the setup, imaging, and deployment of laptop computers for new hires to ensure compliance with the Firm’s user configuration and software application requirements
  • Provide as-needed troubleshooting to the Firm’s office staff for printers, audiovisual and video conferencing systems
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of all Firm hardware

Qualifications:

  • At least five years in a similar role with demonstrable technical and customer service abilities
  • Law firm experience highly preferred
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies to be able to troubleshoot and work with vendor support
  • Consistent follow through and ability and flexibility to multi-task and effectively balance priorities (Note: This is a higher-level role than help desk)
  • Exceptional customer service and people skills

  • 8+ years of patent prosecution experience (particularly patent application drafting experience) in biotechnology-related fields

Successful candidates will have:

  • 7 – 10 years of experience representing clients in a range of corporate, securities and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, financings (debt and equity) and general corporate matters
  • Experience with formation and funding of emerging growth companies, private equity investments, general corporate counseling and a wide variety of transactions

2022 Morse Diversity Fellowship
