Why Choose Morse?

Diversity &
Inclusion Policy

Commitment to the basic tenets of diversity and inclusiveness has been embedded in our Firm’s culture since its inception over 25 years ago. We recognized from the beginning that if we were to fulfill the vision and purpose held by the founding members, we must be open to a broad range of perspectives and actively welcomed colleagues of varied genders, ages, races, religions, disabilities and sexual orientations. The Firm’s leaders in every role bring to bear a conscious dedication to the principles of diversity and inclusion. For example, the Advisory Committee (AdCom), which consists of the Managing Partner, the Department Chairs, an ad hoc Member elected by the Shareholders, and the Executive Director, sets the tone and oversees the execution of Firm policies. The AdCom’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness is reflected in, among other things, the standards set for recruiting and hiring, the expansion of benefits platforms and wellness programs, and philanthropic giving. Additionally, our Department Task Forces, which develop educational programs outside the Firm and within, actively seek diversity in its panels and guest speakers.

We are committed to attracting and retaining women, and to expanding their role in our Firm. We encourage participation and leadership roles in minority and women bar events and in industry groups. Currently, of our Equity Members, 15% are women. In the category of non-equity attorneys, 35% are women. Our current Managing Partner is a woman, as is the Executive Director. Women currently hold 70% of our Senior Operations leadership positions. We have an active Women Attorneys group, a place for women attorneys to share experiences and to initiate and participate in marketing events geared toward women colleagues.

We are proud of our Firm and its history of promoting equality and diversity, but we know we can never rest on our laurels. In a rapidly-evolving world, we know we must continually strive to find new ways to encourage and demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, and to refine and expand programs, policies and platforms already in place.
